first point of contact for the public |
|
Use
the ticket sales computer to sell tickets to our patrons in person or

|
Other
tasks such as cashing up money from programme sales will be explained
as and when required |
|
The
Box Office Volunteer is responsible for the two tills in the foyer and
is expected to cash up and lock all moneys in the safe at the end of the
session and secure the offices |

The
Front of House (FOH) reports to the theatre approximately 30 minutes before
the show begins and is advised of any special requirements the show may
have by the theatre technician or company stage manager |
|
FOH
then checks that the auditorium is ready to receive the public including
turning on the air conditioning/heating if required |
|
FOH
lets the audience in, retaining their ticket stubs and directing them
to their seats |
|
Any
latecomers can be admitted at a suitable point in the performance and
it is the FOH's responsibility to make sure that they are seated |
|
After
the show FOH tidies the auditorium of big litter such as drinks cans,
etc |
|
The
FOH will be trained in the evacuation process in the event of fire |

The
Sales Desk Volunteer arrives at the theatre at the same time as the Front
of House (FOH), that is 30 minutes before the show begins, and spends
that time selling sweets, drinks and ice-creams |
|
Just
before the performance starts the volunteer takes their seat in the auditorium |
|
At
the interval (usually of 20 minutes) the volunteer returns to the sales
desk (re-taking their seat in the auditorium at the end of the interval) |
|
Once
the show has finished the volunteer assists the FOH in tidying the auditorium |

volunteer will be trained in the evacuation process in the event of fire |

Generally
the bar custom can be handled by one member of staff |
|
However,
on a show night or an evening when there is a bar event two people are
required to cope with the rushes of people before, during the interval
and after it finishes |
|
The
Bar Volunteer is required to serve drinks, prepare interval orders, clean
and stack glasses, re-stock and keep the bar clean and tidy |
